Welcome

“It's probably arthritis.”

I hear it again and again from women who've decided stiff, sore knees are simply part of getting older. But not every stiff knee is arthritic. Even when arthritis is part of the picture, knees often feel much better with the right movement, done efficiently, safely and regularly.

So before you settle for “that's just my knees now”, answer five quick questions. You'll get a clearer picture of where your knees are today, and three practical things to try.

A quick word on pain: if your knee is hot, red or very swollen, locks or gives way, or the pain is sharp or getting worse, check with your GP first. That's a sensible first step, not a reason to stop moving.
